Why We Actually Do This (And What Keeps You Going?)
People ask us all the time why we're still in the gym, still rolling on the mats, still meal prepping on Sunday when we could just... not.
Honest answer? It's not about looking good anymore — though we're not going to pretend that doesn't matter. It's that training is the one part of our day that's completely ours. No emails, no notifications, no noise. Just work. And when you train with your partner the way Sarah and I do, it becomes something else entirely — it's how we decompress, how we compete with each other (she still taps me out more than I'd like to admit), and honestly, how we stay connected.
We're in our 40s. Married 19 years, raised two kids (18 and 14), run a business together for over a decade. Sarah is genuinely my best friend — and not in the way people say that at weddings. I mean we actually like each other, which after 19 years is something you have to earn.
And through all of it — the chaos, the hard seasons, the good ones — the times we've shown up best for each other, best for our kids, best for our customers, are always the times we've been most consistent with our training. Morning gym sessions, dog walks, afternoon paddle boarding, weekend hikes, evening BJJ rolls. They don't just keep us looking good for ourselves and each other. They give us space to plan, to decompress, to actually talk. They remind us that no matter how frustrating or overwhelming the day gets, we have a partner who genuinely gets it. Gets us.
This community exists because we know we're not the only ones who've figured out that fitness isn't really about fitness. It's about who you become when you commit to something hard, consistently, for a long time.
So tell us — what actually keeps you showing up?
Not the Instagram answer. The real one. Is it how you feel? Someone you want to be there for? Proving something to yourself? A version of you you're chasing?
Drop it below. We read every single one.
